Storm
Hardening

ride out the storm

Keep the power on for your customers when they need it the most. Don’t be devastated every time a storm hits. Elevating your substation will help ease your concerns when flood waters rise. You can keep your focus and resources on your customers and the community knowing that your substation is above the high-water mark.

the dis-tran advantage

Year-Round Access
Don’t get buried by snow. With a Storm Hardened Substation, you can reach vital equipment when snowpack gets in the way. Spend your resources on repairs and maintenance, instead of digging out access with an elevated substation.
Modular platforms
Modular Platforms are engineered & designed in 3D and pre-assembled in our factory. Our process allows for faster seamless installation.
Brown field substation
Storm Harden an existing substation to prevent future damage. Whether you want to protect a substation that has been damaged in the past or changing floodplains have put your substation at risk, we can help you elevate it.

elevated substations

Surge Above Risk
Don’t spend hundreds of thousands of dollars repairing your substation, when you can prevent the damage.  Flooding is one of the most common and serious causes of storm damage to electric power stations. Floodwaters can destroy any electronics inside controls and breakers and then continue to corrode equipment even after floodwaters have receded.
By lifting existing substation structures out of reach of floodwaters, up to 5-feet above the previous storm surge water mark, or 13-feet above mean sea level (2’ above FEMA and insurance) you can harden critical assets to continuously provide uninterrupted power to your customers, while enduring devastating storms with minimal-to-no damage.
An elevated substation can prevent a total loss. Storm hardening your substation can pay for itself in one severe flood while allowing you to keep the power on for your customers when they need it most.
